An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Technician based at Essex Police workshops in Laindon near Basildon. This is a challenging role that requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a vehicle workshop environment, a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, electrical systems, diagnostics and health and safety. The role is full‑time, permanent, and based in a workshop team.
In this role you will perform all duties of a Vehicle Technician, carrying out service, maintenance and repairs on car and light commercial vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. You will also conduct safety inspections, diagnostic testing and problem solving on a wide range of fleet vehicles and Police vehicle equipment, complete documentation (job sheets, service sheets, parts requests and electronic time input), and modify vehicles to fit specialised Police equipment. You will prioritise vehicles and maintenance tasks to meet procedures and quality standards and manage warranty claims with manufacturers.
The starting salary is £40,383.00, pro‑rata for part‑time vacancies, with incremental increases within this band up to a maximum of £42,612.00.
