Job summary

Halfords in Hull (Autocentres) is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service and repair vehicles. You will diagnose faults and perform complex repairs across systems including brakes, steering, suspension, electrics, and engine components.

The role requires Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or time‑served experience) and a full UK driving licence. The position offers a base salary of £32,000 with up to £39,100 OTE and uncapped bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience in diagnostics and complex repairs (brakes, steering/suspension, engine).

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair/replacement work on vehicles.
• Perform diagnostics and tackle complex repairs (electrics, brakes, suspension).
• Handle tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements as needed.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
