Job summary

Halfords is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service and repair vehicles in a UK automotive centre. You will perform diagnostic work and handle more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements, electrics, brakes, steering and suspension diagnostics.

The role requires a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience, plus a full UK driving licence with minimal points. An uncapped bonus scheme complements the base salary.

• Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience carrying out diagnostics and complex repairs (brakes, steering/suspension, engine).

Job description

• On-target earnings up to £45,000
• Comprising a base salary of £38,100
• An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £6,900 per year
• 5 days a week (the centre is closed on a Sunday)

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills And Experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
