A leading UK accountancy and advisory firm is seeking a talented individual to join its VAT team based in London. The firm offers a wide range of tax and consulting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, with particular focus on the real estate and financial services sectors, both in the UK and internationally.

Role Overview

Our client is looking for a driven and capable individual to join their VAT team in London as an Assistant Manager. This team delivers VAT compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of business clients across various sectors.

As Assistant Manager, you will support the management of client relationships, contribute to advisory projects, and play a key role in the development of junior team members. You’ll also have opportunities to get involved in business development and grow your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Work – Assist in managing a portfolio of VAT compliance and advisory cases, supporting senior team members and contributing to client meetings and communications.
  • Staff Support & Development – Provide guidance and on-the-job training to junior staff, helping to foster their growth and development.
  • Practice Development – Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives, helping to raise the team’s profile and identify new opportunities.
  • Personal Development – Stay up to date with VAT legislation, HMRC guidance, and industry trends by attending internal and external training sessions.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in UK VAT gained in a professional services or industry setting
  • Confident in handling compliance work and supporting advisory projects
  • Demonstrates strong communication and organisational skills
  • Shows an interest in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues
  • Holds or is working towards a relevant qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CTA)
