Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Service Designer to join the Digital, Data and Technology team in Wales. You will work with multidisciplinary Agile teams to design and improve services from end to end, focusing on user needs and research insights.

You’ll create artefacts such as user journeys, service blueprints and prototypes, design inclusive services, and test ideas across various audiences. The role emphasizes collaboration with researchers, content teams, developers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience designing services around genuine user needs
• Ability to create user journeys, service blueprints, prototypes and service flows
• Use research, data and user insight to shape and refine services
• Collaborate in Agile, multidisciplinary teams
• Facilitate workshops and engage with users and stakeholders
• Able to challenge assumptions while working within constraints
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
• Design inclusive, accessible and usable services
• Experience in public sector or public service environments in Wales
• Prototyping in HTML/CSS and responsive design

Responsibilities

• Champion and embed User-Centred Design across teams
• Design and improve end-to-end digital and non-digital services
• Understand user needs and use research and insight to inform design decisions
• Create service design artefacts including user journeys, service blueprints, service flows and prototypes
• Facilitate workshops, co-design sessions and stakeholder discussions
• Work closely with user researchers, content teams, developers and business stakeholders
• Test and iterate designs with different audiences
• Identify opportunities to improve user experience, service quality and efficiency
• Support services through the full lifecycle and help ensure accessibility and inclusivity
• Share good practice and contribute to service design patterns and approaches
