Job summary

Volkswagen Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance team. You will ensure our organisation stays compliant with UK data protection laws and regulatory requirements, advising senior leaders and business units.

You will support the DPO, manage data breaches and DPIAs, maintain ROPA, handle DSARs, and liaise with the ICO while driving continuous improvement and robust governance across VWFS UK.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Skilled at researching, analysing, interpreting and presenting regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting regulatory guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement with influencing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the handling of personal data breaches and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a key contact for front-line teams on DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on complaints and regulatory inquiries, ensuring robust investigations.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues to resolve data protection issues.
• Drive continuous improvement for privacy compliance and efficiency.
