Job summary

Volkswagen Group is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join the Legal & Compliance Team in the UK. You will advise on UK data protection laws, support the DPO, manage DPIAs and ROPA, and oversee data breach responses and regulatory interactions.

You will collaborate with business units and senior leaders to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement. The role focuses on regulated environments such as consumer credit or retail banking, with opportunities to influence

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance and/or Legal functions.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Skilled at researching, analysing, interpreting, and presenting regulatory information.
• Comfort with challenging views and interpreting guidance with accuracy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement, with negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance to the business on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as key contact for front-line teams on DSARs, complaints, and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory enquiries, ensuring robust investigations and responses.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues to resolve data protection and privacy issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection compliance and operational efficiency.
