Job summary

Volkswagen Group is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance team in the UK. You will advise on UK data protection laws, maintain ROPA, support DPIAs, and manage data breach oversight while interfacing with regulators and senior leaders.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in compliance, respond to DSARs, and ensure robust investigations.

Qualifications

• Provide data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions to a specialist level.
• Understand ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Research, analyse and present complex regulatory information.
• Challenge views and interpret regulatory guidance with accuracy and proportionality.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement to influence and negotiate.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist DPIAs.
• Lead data breach assessment, oversight, and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on complaints and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues to resolve issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in data protection compliance and efficiency.
