Job summary

Volkswagen Group in the United Kingdom seeks a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to support UK Data Protection laws and regulatory requirements. You will advise business units, assist the DPO, manage DPIAs, breaches, DSARs and regulatory inquiries, while driving continuous improvement in privacy and compliance.

The role requires experience in compliance/legal data protection, strong ICO guidance knowledge, and excellent stakeholder engagement to influence across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance or Legal functions.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance, codes and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Skilled at researching, analysing, and interpreting regulatory information.
• Able to challenge views and interpret regulatory guidance accurately and proportionally.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK data protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a key contact for front-line teams on DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues across the business to resolve data protection issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for data protection compliance and efficiency.
