Job summary

Volkswagen Financial Services UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You’ll advise on UK data protection laws, support our DPO, and lead initiatives from DPIAs to breach oversight, ensuring regulatory compliance across the business.

You will collaborate with business units and senior leaders to drive privacy improvements, maintain ROPA, handle DSARs, and provide MI reporting in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance/Legal.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with professionalism.
• Strong skills in researching, analysing and interpreting regulatory information.
• Ability to challenge views and interpret regulatory guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches and MI reporting.
• Act as a key contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring to assess compliance.
• Liaise with the ICO on regulatory inquiries and investigations.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy issues.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance compliance and efficiency.
