Volkswagen Group's VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance team, ensuring compliance with UK data protection laws and regulatory requirements.

You will support the DPO, manage DPIAs, ROPA, DSARs and data breach response, and act as a trusted contact for frontline teams while engaging with regulators such as the ICO. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and pragmatic privacy risk management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to present complex regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging regulatory guidance with accuracy and proportionality.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA) and support DPIAs.
• Lead breach management and regulatory reporting to senior forums.
• Serve as a point of contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation related to data protection.
• Drive second-line monitoring and continuous improvement of privacy controls.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance and regulators like the ICO.
