Job summary

Volkswagen Group UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will ensure compliance with UK data protection laws, advise senior leaders, support the DPO, and lead initiatives from data breach oversight to regulator engagement.

You will maintain ROPA, support DPIAs and DSARs, and drive continuous improvement in privacy practices across the business, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external regulators as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance or Legal.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision.
• Skill in researching, analysing and presenting regulatory information.
• Ability to challenge views and interpret guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK data protection laws.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead data breach oversight and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Support DSARs, complaints and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on inquiries and investigations.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in data protection and efficiency.
