Job summary

Smart Education is recruiting a Tutor to work in Perry Barr on a contract basis. The role involves 1:1 tutoring in a home or residential setting, with flexible hours and a focus on engaging students across various ages and abilities.

The successful candidate will have an enhanced DBS, relevant teaching qualifications (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) or equivalent, and at least 1 year of UK tutoring experience, including SEN/SEMH awareness. Benefits include paid planning time and a Twinkle account.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS on update service or willing to obtain one.
• Experience or qualification in English, Maths and/or Science tutoring in the UK.
• Minimum of 1 year teaching or tutoring UK experience.
• Experience with SEN/SEMH and working with children/young people.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 tutoring in home or residential setting, varying ages from KS1 to further education.
• Develop personalised learning strategies for students not in mainstream education.
• Support the young person’s re-engagement in education.
• Differentiate teaching based on student needs and backgrounds.

Job Requirements of a Tutor:

• An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
• Have a (QTS / QTLS / PGCE), Subject Specialism or tuition experience supporting with English, Maths and/or Science
• A minimum of 1 years teaching or tutoring UK experience
• Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH)

Role Responsibilities of a Tutor:

• Being a tutor involves yourself working in a home setting; this may be the family home or a residential setting for LAC. You will be working 1:1 with students from various backgrounds and differentiating needs; students ages can range from key stage 1 to further education depending on where your experience is best suited
• Developing personalised learning strategies for students who are out of mainstream education
• Supporting a young person s re-engagement in education
• Developing personalised learning strategies for students who are out of mainstream education
