In-School Tutor - Looked After Children (LAC)
Secondary School Trafford

We are currently working in partnership with a secondary school in Trafford to recruit a dedicated In-School Tutor to support Looked After Children (LAC).

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tutor or education professional who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

You will be based within a secondary school setting, providing targeted academic support to Looked After Children on a one-to-one and small group basis during the school day. The role focuses on raising attainment, building confidence and re-engaging pupils with their education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalised tutoring sessions aligned with pupils' Personal Education Plans (PEPs)
  • Provide support across a range of subjects, with a focus on literacy, numeracy and core study skills
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and emotional wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, including the Designated Teacher for LAC
  • Track progress and provide feedback to support ongoing interventions
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly Looked After Children or those with additional needs
  • Strong understanding of the secondary curriculum
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Ability to motivate and engage pupils who may be disengaged from learning
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
