Job description

Job Description:

Our Team: Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.

Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.

The new team has three locations: the Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany), known for its modern facilities; the Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), renowned for innovative technologies; and the Sauber Motorsport Technical Center in the UK, which will be operational this year. Our Power Unit is developed in Neuburg, while Hinwil focuses on chassis development and race operations.

We are looking for individuals with the mindset of an athlete—those for whom giving up isn’t an option and limits are just challenges to overcome. Join us to bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 and make motorsport history.

The position is based at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg, Germany, within the internal combustion engine development team. Your role involves working on the combustion process and calibration of a high-performance powertrain, aiming to maximize engine performance and efficiency while ensuring reliability. You will be involved in development during the concept, design, commissioning, and testing phases.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Develop combustion processes and gas exchange models using 3D CFD simulations.
  • Conduct thermodynamic development of engine gas exchange, combustion phases, and flow simulations of intake and exhaust systems.
  • Plan, perform, and evaluate 3D CFD simulations, preparing detailed reports.
  • Create correlations with measurement data from engine testing and test benches.
  • Improve workflows and toolchains for simulation and data correlation.
Your Profile:
  • Technical degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, fluid mechanics, or related fields (bachelor's, master's, diploma, or doctorate).
  • Several years of professional experience in internal combustion engine development, with expertise in 3D CFD simulation.
  • Broad knowledge of engine technology and virtual development tool chains.
  • Experience handling data from test benches.
  • Excellent teamwork, organizational skills, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Independent and precise working style.
  • Proficiency in German or English; willingness to learn the other language is required.
