Job summary

Compass Community is seeking Teaching Assistants to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) in our schools. The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, assisting teachers, managing classroom resources and helping with trips and activities.

Candidates should be prepared to support students with diverse SEND, engage positively, and contribute to safeguarding and inclusive education practices across our expanding network.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with diverse needs is beneficial.
• Ability to engage with students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in the classroom.
• Deliver sessions with individuals or small groups.
• Manage classroom resources and prepare materials.
• Take children on trips and visits.
• Attend to children during lunch and break times to support social skills.
• Support positive behaviours and ensure safety of students.
• Assist with science experiments and practical activities.
• Create engaging displays and celebrate student progress.
• Be involved in therapy sessions or reflections as needed.
