Job summary

Compass Community Schools are seeking Teaching Assistants to support children with social, emotional and mental health needs in our classrooms. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, help create engaging activities, manage resources, and ensure safety through effective behaviour management.

Qualifications

• Strong communication abilities with children and staff.
• Experience supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) is advantageous.
• Ability to maintain a calm, consistent approach in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning.
• Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources.
• Take children on educational trips and visits.
• Have lunch with children who struggle socially.
• Maintain English and Maths basics in daily activities.
• Keep children safe with strong behaviour management and clear communication.
• Create, play and teach games to develop social skills.
• Create displays to support teaching and a positive learning environment.
• Celebrate success and participate in reflective training.
