Job summary

Compass Community is seeking Teaching Assistants to support children with SEMH and SEND in our school. The role focuses on delivering targeted teaching, managing resources, and supporting pupils with challenging behaviours in a supportive, therapeutic environment.

Ideal candidates will be patient, flexible and capable of working with diverse ability levels. The post involves 1:1 work, small group sessions, and occasional educational trips to enhance learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH or SEND.
• Ability to work with children with complex and challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in the classroom.
• Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources and equipment.
• Take children on educational trips and visits.
• Have lunch with children who struggle socially.
• Demonstrate good English and maths basics.
• Support safety and behaviour management with effective communication.
• Create engaging activities and displays to aid learning.
• Contribute to the school’s therapeutic training and reflection processes.
