Job description

Join our team as a First Line Manager!

We are recruiting for a permanent line manager to work in the operations at JD Sports Dunstable. You will motivate, encourage, guide, and manage team members to meet KPIs and performance requirements.

This is a 4 on 4 off role for the day shift.

Salary: £34,000 per annum

How will you contribute?

1. Daily running of the Transport operation.
2. Ensuring completion of all administrative and legislative tasks required to maintain performance of the operation.
3. Liaising with other departments to avoid delayed departures and/or deliveries.
4. Ensuring operational security requirements are adhered to, e.g., vehicle keys, phones, fuel cards.
5. Engaging directly with customer service to provide updates regarding deliveries.
6. Managing tachograph records for the driver team.
7. Promoting good driver behaviors using tools including telematics for the driver team.
8. Providing leadership and motivation for admin and driver teams, including regular 1:1s, career discussions, and succession planning.
9. Conducting investigations and accident investigations in a timely manner.
10. Assisting with vehicle defect management through the VOR process.
11. Being involved in recruitment, training, and coaching of admin and driver colleagues.
12. Managing sickness absence processes, including record keeping and RTW interviews.
13. Working across both locations in the Midland Campus.

What will you bring?

1. Attention to detail and accuracy in information handling.
2. Experience in a transport or busy operational environment (desirable).
3. Excellent communication skills at all levels.
4. Understanding of drivers’ working time directive and EU regulations.
5. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines independently.
6. Proficiency in MS Office applications; knowledge of Distribution/Transport Systems is advantageous.
7. CPC transport license is an advantage.
