Transport Supervisor - Berkshire

Based just outside Reading, Berkshire, our recently acquired client is seeking a Transport Supervisor to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a fully office-based role with working hours from 7am to 5pm.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the transport or logistics sector, with exceptional organisational and communication skills to plan efficient schedules and manage multiple tasks effectively.

This specialist business provides solutions to domestic issues across Berkshire, Hampshire, and Oxfordshire, with plans for further expansion. The company has recently been acquired and operates alongside another company in the Group based in Bristol.

The successful individual will be highly organised, with excellent communication skills, as they will frequently liaise with drivers and customers via phone and email. The role requires confidence in making independent, informed decisions, and a collaborative approach to contribute to a supportive, solutions-driven team environment. Experience with Big Change transport planning software would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Liaising with drivers and customers
2. Planning and organising daily schedules and routes for lorries and drivers
3. Optimising drivers' schedules for efficiency in time and fuel consumption
4. Addressing inquiries and resolving issues effectively via phone and email
5. Using transport planning software (e.g., Big Change) to coordinate activities
6. Operating in a fast-paced, reactive environment, making quick, informed decisions
7. Providing high levels of customer service with professionalism and positivity
8. Managing unforeseen challenges such as traffic, weather, or vehicle maintenance
9. Collaborating with the team to troubleshoot and ensure smooth operations
