Job summary

Leisure Solutions Community Trust is recruiting a Duty Manager to help run The Leys Leisure Centre in Oxford. You will oversee daily operations, lead teams, ensure safety, and deliver a high-quality customer experience in a busy community facility.

As a part-time role, you’ll support activities across fitness and leisure services, maintain high standards, respond to incidents, and promote a welcoming, safe environment for members and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre.
• Lead, deploy and motivate operational teams to deliver high-quality services across the facility.
• Maintain a strong on-site presence, responding positively to customer needs, feedback and incidents.
• Take control during emergencies, accidents or operational issues, acting calmly and decisively.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, Serco Management System procedures and site operating plans.
• Support the performance, training and engagement of colleagues, including absence management and investigations where required.

Salary: £15.06 per hour plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Part time, 20 hours per week

You'll support colleagues, customers and the wider community by helping create an environment where people can stay active, improve their wellbeing and enjoy a positive experience. Your work has purpose, helping to create a positive impact on communities and supporting a healthier future for all.

What you'll do as a Duty Manager

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre, ensuring safe opening and closing procedures are followed at all times.
• Lead, deploy and motivate operational teams to deliver high-quality services across the facility.
• Maintain a strong on-site presence, responding positively to customer needs, feedback and incidents.
• Take control during emergencies, accidents or operational issues, acting calmly and decisively.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, Serco Management System procedures and site operating plans.
• Support the performance, training and engagement of colleagues, including absence management and investigations where required.

Does this sound like you?

• Knowledge and skills within the leisure industry or a related environment would be beneficial.
• Previous operational experience in a leisure, fitness or customer-facing setting is desirable.
• Strong health and safety awareness, with the confidence to apply procedures effectively.
• Excellent communication and customer care skills, with a calm approach under pressure.
• Organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage priorities in a busy environment.
• Confidence to lead people, make decisions and maintain high standards of service and presentation.
