Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic Traffic Engineering Apprentices to support a diverse range of projects aimed at safer, more efficient transport networks. You’ll work with experienced engineers in multidisciplinary teams, gaining hands-on experience and progressing toward a recognised qualification.

You will use industry tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, LinSig, TRANSYT and VISSIM, with on-the-job learning and formal training. Hybrid work options apply as part of a flexible development path.

Qualifications

• Three A-Levels including Mathematics and a physical science at grade C+ or above, or equivalent.
• Interest in traffic, transport or civil engineering and a desire to build a career in the industry.
• Aptitude for technical software, engineering design and drawing, with interest in AutoCAD or 3D modelling software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Creative and practical approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design drawings, plans and supporting documentation using CAD and other design software.
• Support development and delivery of traffic engineering, highways and active travel schemes from concept to detailed design.
• Help collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data.
• Assist with highway, street and traffic engineering design including signage and road markings.
• Support traffic management and traffic signal design activities.
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections.
• Assist with technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Maintain project records and provide general project administration.
