Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of building materials and an overview of various trades.

Responsibilities

As a Trade Labourer – Damp, Mould and Disrepair at Freebridge Community Housing, you’ll work alongside our skilled tradespeople and play a key part in carrying out remedial work on damp, mould, and disrepair issues in our homes, helping to create safe and healthy living environments. This is a practical, customer‑focused role where you’ll make a real difference to the wellbeing of our customers – and develop your skills for future career growth.

Our Freebridge Community Housing goal is to provide affordable, safe and quality homes for current and future generations, for those who need a place to call home. Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. We now have over 7500 properties across west and north Norfolk, in addition to building new homes for social and affordable rent, and to support those who want to move into shared home ownership. What you’ll be doing
  • Customer Service: Deliver a courteous and effective service to all customers.
  • Strip‑Out & Removal: Remove damaged materials and carry out strip‑out work to prepare affected areas.
  • Cleaning & Sanitising: Clean and sanitise areas to prevent further contamination and ensure a safe environment.
  • Anti‑Mould Treatment: Apply anti‑mould treatments in line with best practice to protect homes.
  • Minor Repairs: Undertake minor repairs associated with condensation control and mould prevention.
  • Drying Equipment: Install and monitor drying equipment as required to aid the remedial process.
  • Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety procedures and report hazards.
  • Maintenance & Equipment Operation: Operate plant machinery and other equipment (training provided) and assist with general maintenance tasks, including working at height, erection and use of access equipment, and drainage clearance to meet work schedules.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
What we’re looking for
Essential
  • Technical Knowledge: A good knowledge and recognition of building materials and a basic overview of all trades.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively and courteously with all levels of the workforce.
  • Customer Service & Safety: Commitment to excellent customer service and working safely.
  • Self‑Management: Ability to work on own initiative, make decisions within own expertise, and organise workload to meet schedules.
  • Practical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces and willingness to undertake and maintain training and certification as required by the role and Freebridge.
  • Driving: Full UK Driving Licence required.
Desirable
  • Damp and Mould: Experience in damp and mould remediation (training will be provided).
  • CSCS Certification: Possession of a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • Plant Operation: Ability to operate plant or equipment (training will be provided).
