Job summary

Compass Community Schools is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH and SEND. You will work with teachers, deliver small-group sessions, and help manage behaviours in a trauma-informed environment.

The role involves 1:1 support, assisting with classrooms, trips, meal times, and contributing to therapy sessions. You will help create a safe, engaging classroom and be part of a team dedicated to high-quality outcomes for every child.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH.
• Able to work with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
• Resilient, flexible and non-judgmental in approach.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in the classroom and deliver sessions with small groups.
• Manage classroom resources and prepare learning activities.
• Take children on trips and supervise lunch times.
• Help manage heightened behaviours and keep children safe.
• Participate in therapy sessions or reflections on difficult periods.
• Encourage engagement and celebrate student successes.
