Job description

Outpatient Networkare seeking a reliable, flexible and patient-focused Theatre Porter to join our busy Theatres Department. The post holder will play a vital role in supporting the safe and effective running of operating theatres by providing a high-quality portering service for patients, staff, equipment and specimens.

The successful candidate will work as part of the wider multidisciplinary theatre team, ensuring that patient dignity, comfort and safety are maintained at all times.

Main duties of the job
  • To safely and courteously transfer patients to and from theatre, recovery, wards and other clinical areas, ensuring patient dignity, privacy and comfort at all times.
  • To assist with the movement, positioning and handling of patients in accordance with Trust manual handling policies and procedures.
  • To transport equipment, instruments, blood products, specimens and documentation between departments as required.
  • To support theatre staff by ensuring theatres and associated areas are prepared, stocked and kept clean and tidy between cases.
  • To respond promptly and professionally to requests from clinical staff, prioritising tasks appropriately in a busy environment.
  • To follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times, including the correct use of PPE.
  • To report any faults, incidents or concerns promptly to the appropriate staff member.
  • To maintain clear communication with patients, relatives and staff, offering reassurance and support where appropriate.
