Job summary

NFP People in Bedford is seeking a proactive People Advisor on a temporary basis to support managers with employee relations and help foster a positive workplace culture.

The role involves hands-on HR advice, investigations, and coaching managers to manage people matters with confidence. Hybrid working (2 days in the office) and a 3‑month initial contract with potential extension are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience giving practical HR advice to managers in employee relations.
• Knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
• Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy team.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line advice on employee relations matters, including disciplinary and absence cases.
• Support investigations, meetings and case management.
• Assist managers with attendance, wellbeing and performance discussions.
• Coach managers to handle people matters fairly and confidently.
• Offer guidance on HR policies and employment legislation.
• Maintain accurate HR records and use data to spot trends.
• Support workforce planning and organisational change activities.
• Collaborate with HR Operations, Recruitment and L&D.
