With nearly 10,000 colleagues, we're looking for more brilliant people who are passionate about sustainability, eager to innovate, and ready to turn challenges into opportunities for a better future.

LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

We’re looking for a Technical Support – Environment & Water Quality to join our team and support the delivery of nationally significant water infrastructure projects. You’ll play a key role in the Strategic Resource Options (SRO) programme, helping reduce drought risk across the UK. Severn Trent is involved in seven major schemes funded through AMP8, including the flagship Grand Union Canal Transfer and Severn to Thames Transfer.

What you’ll do
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver environmental and water quality investigations for SRO schemes.
  • Support engagement with regulators and stakeholders to shape priorities and meet compliance requirements.
  • Manage technical work packages delivered by consultants, ensuring alignment with RAPID guidance and consenting processes.
  • Undertake high-level environmental screening and assessments, contributing to WRMP option appraisals.
  • Analyse sampling and survey data to assess environmental and water quality impacts.

You’ll be based at our Head Office in Coventry. You’ll work within our Strategic Resource Options and Property team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Experience in infrastructure planning/design, SEA/EIA, HRA, WFD or environmental permitting.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical reports for diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of collaborative working with consultants, engineers, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in environmental permitting, EIA, DCO and/or WRMP processes (beneficial).
  • Project management and budget control experience.
  • Working towards chartership (or already chartered).
  • Hold a full U.K driving licence.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on projects that shape the future of water resilience in the UK.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.

  • 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year)
  • Annual bonus scheme (of up to £2,250 per annum based on company performance)
  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
  • Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate
  • Dedicated training and development with our ‘Academy’
