Technical Sales Engineer

The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join an established engineering business specialising in ventilation, air conditioning, ductwork and fire-resisting ductwork.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded sales professional who can combine engineering knowledge with strong commercial and customer relationship skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tenders for ventilation, air conditioning, ductwork and fire-resisting ductwork projects.
- Produce quotations for ventilation and air movement products.
- Develop quotations for bespoke and non-standard products from first principles.
- Liaise with existing and prospective customers regarding technical and commercial requirements.
- Develop customer relationships and identify opportunities to increase sales.
- Follow up quotations and tender submissions to maximise conversion.
- Attend customer meetings, site meetings and on-site surveys when required.
- Process customer orders, including engineering drawings, materials and equipment requirements.
- Liaise with customers regarding project requirements and deliveries.
- Work closely with Contracts, Production and Engineering departments.
- Support testing and performance data production for new products.
- Represent the business at trade exhibitions, CPD seminars and industry events.
- Support marketing activities including newsletters, LinkedIn content and marketing materials.
- Contribute to improving the company's tendering and quotation processes.
About You
- Previous experience in technical sales, sales engineering, estimating or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of ventilation, HVAC, air movement or air conditioning systems..
- Strong commercial awareness and customer relationship skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working independently.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Office 365.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering or Building Services would be advantageous.
- Experience within ventilation, HVAC, ductwork or building services would be highly desirable.
