Job summary

WR HVAC in Manchester is seeking a Building Services Design Engineer to create mechanical and HVAC designs for commercial projects, from concept through detailed design and delivery.

You will carry out heat loss/gain calculations, size and select plant, and produce drawings and specifications while coordinating with PMs, estimators and site teams. UK regs knowledge and strong communication are essential; a relevant qualification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Services, Mechanical or HVAC design.
• Strong understanding of air conditioning, VRF/VRV, ventilation, and mechanical building services.
• Able to produce technical drawings and calculations.
• Experience with AutoCAD; ideally Revit.
• Good knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanical or Building Services qualification preferred.

We're recruiting a Building Services Design Engineer for a growing specialist HVAC and mechanical contractor based in Manchester.

This is a hands-on design role supporting commercial air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical projects from initial concept through to detailed design and project delivery.

The Role

• Produce mechanical and HVAC designs for commercial projects
• Carry out heat loss / heat gain calculations
• Size and select air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical plant
• Produce drawings, schematics and technical specifications
• Coordinate designs with project managers, estimators and site teams
• Review consultant drawings and client requirements
• Support technical submissions and equipment selections
• Assist with value engineering and design optimisation
• Attend design meetings and site surveys where required
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations

The Candidate

• Experience in Building Services, Mechanical or HVAC Design
• Strong understanding of:
