Position Overview

We are seeking a technically accomplished and highly client-focussed Technical Project Manager to lead the design, planning, and onsite execution of our creative event productions. This role is responsible for developing integrated technical solutions across lighting, audio, video, rigging, staging, and power—and ensuring these are delivered flawlessly in line with client expectations, creative direction, and venue regulations.

As a key client-facing role, you’ll act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle—communicating clearly and confidently with clients, venue teams, and senior stakeholders. You’ll combine deep cross-discipline technical expertise with the interpersonal skills to guide non-technical clients through complex solutions, always with professionalism, clarity, and a client-focussed mindset.

You’ll work across a diverse range of high-end events in the Unique Venues of London and beyond, collaborating with our Creative, Projects and Operations teams to deliver work that is technically robust, creatively aligned, and logistically sound.

What Makes Us Unique
  • Experience – With a legacy of excellence and a trusted reputation, we bring deep knowledge and proven expertise to every event.
  • Partnership – We make the process seamless, offering a single responsive point of contact and acting with professionalism at every step.
  • Creativity – Our creativity is strategic as well as stylish—offering fresh ideas, bespoke solutions, and distinctive flair for every brief.
Role Key Accountabilities
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as the lead technical contact for clients, venues, and project stakeholders—ensuring responsive, clear, and professional communication throughout all project stages.
  • Technical Design & Specification: Translate creative briefs into detailed technical solutions across lighting, audio, video, rigging, staging and power—producing drawings, kit lists and specifications.
  • Site Assessments & Feasibility: Conduct site visits and technical surveys to evaluate venue constraints, infrastructure, access and regulatory requirements; advise on viable and innovative solutions.
  • Supplier & Crew Coordination: Scope, source and brief equipment suppliers and freelance technicians—ensuring appropriate resourcing, clear roles and alignment with delivery expectations.
  • Onsite Technical Leadership: Lead technical teams through build, live and de-rig phases—ensuring safe, timely and high-standard execution, with efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Health & Safety & Compliance: Own all H&S aspects of technical delivery—producing RAMS, ensuring CDM compliance where applicable, and coordinating safety with venues and contractors.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Creative, Production and Logistics teams to integrate technical planning into wider project workflows—ensuring cohesive, efficient and high-quality delivery.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Translate client briefs and creative direction into practical, high-quality technical plans.
  • Attend client meetings and planning calls, providing confident and clear technical guidance.
  • Act as a responsive and professional point of contact for clients, venues and partners throughout planning and delivery.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments to scope infrastructure, rigging, power and access requirements.
  • Identify when specialist technical expertise is required and engage appropriate freelance expertise, subcontractors or internal specialists to support particularly complex elements of a project.
  • Produce and maintain Vectorworks drawings, kit lists and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with our partner equipment supplier to understand in-house kit capabilities and prioritise its use in technical designs where aligned with the brief.
  • Plan ahead with the supplier to confirm availability of key equipment and identify sub-hire needs early, ensuring cost‑efficiency and smooth delivery.
  • Maintain key project management systems with up-to-date information to support planning and visibility across internal teams and partner suppliers.
  • Brief crew and subcontractors clearly, and oversee on‑site delivery to ensure adherence to safety, conduct, cleanliness and venue expectations.
  • Lead technical teams during install and live periods, troubleshooting issues calmly and efficiently.
  • Ensure sustainability, efficiency and Wise Productions’ quality standards are maintained throughout.
  • Debrief projects with internal teams to support continuous improvement in technical delivery.
Core Competencies
  • Technical Expertise: Broad working knowledge of all core production disciplines—lighting, sound, video, rigging, staging and power—with deeper strength in at least one area.
  • Client Focus & Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional, confident, and presentable in client‑facing settings—including with senior stakeholders and key venue staff.
  • Responsiveness: Naturally proactive, quick to respond and solutions-focused—able to manage changing priorities and client needs in real time.
  • Project Management: Skilled in planning, documentation and coordination across multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Calm under pressure, logical and practical in high‑stakes live event environments.
  • Collaboration: Works seamlessly across disciplines and departments to ensure technical solutions support the creative and production vision.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Solid understanding of relevant safety regulations, including CDM and RAMS.
