Job summary

NJR Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Claims Lead in Manchester. You will provide strategic technical direction across a diverse portfolio of complex casualty, property, motor and specialty claims, mentoring colleagues and delivering excellent client outcomes.

The role requires significant experience in complex Commercial Insurance claims, strong policy and legal understanding, and proven stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Significant experience handling complex Commercial Insurance claims across Property, Casualty, Motor and Specialty.
• Strong technical understanding of policy wordings, liability and legal frameworks.
• Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
• Experience using Acturis and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to interpret claims data and provide commercial insights.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercially focused with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.
• Experience mentoring or coaching team members is advantageous.
• Excellent organisational skills with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the handling of high-value and complex claims with technical direction.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Claims Lead to join a leading insurance brokerage, providing expert technical claims leadership across a diverse portfolio of complex casualty, property, motor and specialty claims. Based in Manchester city centre, this is an excellent opportunity for a senior claims professional looking to play a strategic role while mentoring colleagues and delivering outstanding client outcomes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with extensive technical claims experience who enjoys solving complex challenges, building strong relationships with clients and insurers, and influencing the future direction of a high-performing claims function.

Responsibilities of the Technical Lead:

• Lead the handling of high-value and complex claims, providing technical direction and oversight throughout the claims process.
• Interpret policy coverage, liability and quantum to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
• Develop and implement effective claims strategies, including the management of litigated claims where required.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex or contentious claims.
• Build trusted relationships with key clients, providing strategic claims advice and support.
• Attend client meetings and critical incidents, offering expert guidance from the outset of a claim.
• Lead negotiations with insurers, loss adjusters and legal representatives to secure favourable claim settlements.
• Analyse claims data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for service improvement.
• Produce meaningful management information and claims insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and support colleagues, sharing technical knowledge and helping to develop capability across the wider Claims team.
• Ensure claims are managed in line with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty principles and internal compliance procedures.
• Work closely with broking and risk teams to deliver integrated client solutions and contribute to business growth initiatives.

What we are looking for:
