Job summary

PLUMB CENTRE in South Yorkshire is recruiting a Team Supervisor to lead daily branch operations and supervise staff. You will support the Branch Manager, mentor colleagues, and drive customer-focused service at the trade counter while managing stock and contributing to sales growth.

The role requires a proactive approach, the ability to work well under pressure, and a commitment to excellent customer service. Full-time hours with potential bonuses and benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager with day-to-day branch operations and act in charge when absent.

• Grow the customer base and improve retention and satisfaction.
• Identify ways to improve branch profits and build supplier relationships.
• Perform general warehouse duties including goods in/out, picking and packing heavy stock.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Assisting the Branch Manager with the day-to-day running and operations within the branch and taking charge when they are not available


• Supervise and support colleagues, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to achieve targets and goals


• Serving customers on the trade counter, offering advice and product knowledge


• Develop the customer base, improve retention, satisfaction, product mix, and range


• Identify and recommend ways to improve profits


• Building rapport with suppliers


• General warehouse duties including goods in & out, picking and packing customer orders (this will involve manual handling heavy stock i.e., toilets, sinks, boilers, and radiators)


• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures

Working Hours

This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday between 07:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday on a rota basis from 08:00am - 12:00pm.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience within a plumbers' merchant, builders' merchant, or similar trade environment is preferable


• Experience supervising or leading a team with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members


• Positive and professional attitude with a customer-focused approach


• Experience handling stock control and inventory management


• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment


• Willingness to step up to run the branch in the Branch Manager's absence and carry out a diverse range of duties in the branch to ensure smooth operations


• Commercial awareness with a focus on sales growth


• Keenness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
