Astro Education are currently supporting a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester that is looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The role involves supporting pupils in small SEN/SEMH classes, delivering 1:1 and small-group support, and helping pupils engage with learning while promoting positive behaviour in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification required.
• Experience with children or young people.
• Experience in SEN/SEMH, education, youth work or care settings desirable.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Resilience to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and provides a structured and nurturing environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide pupils with the encouragement and assistance they need to engage positively with education.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience within an SEN, SEMH, education, youth work or care setting is desirable.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• The resilience and confidence to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people succeed.

Transferable experience will be considered, particularly from youth work, care, sports coaching, residential settings or other roles supporting young people.
