Job summary

Astro Education are currently supporting a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester that is looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The role involves supporting pupils in small SEN/SEMH classes, delivering 1:1 and small-group support, and helping pupils engage with learning while promoting positive behaviour in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification required.
• Experience with children or young people.
• Experience in SEN/SEMH, education, youth work or care settings desirable.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Resilience to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Genuine passion for helping children succeed.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within small SEN/SEMH classes.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support when required.
• Help pupils engage with classroom activities and learning.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils.
• Encourage positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning.
• Support classroom routines and maintain a safe environment.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience.
• Work closely with teachers and wider school team.
• Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.
