Job summary

AMA Admin in Sheffield is recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming school community. The role supports pupils across the primary age range, assisting with classroom activities and targeted interventions to help children reach their potential.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and patient candidate with strong English and maths basics, good communication, and a commitment to safeguarding. A Level 2/3 TA qualification is desirable, and staff wellbeing is a priority.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with primary-aged children in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Teaching Assistant qualification Level 2 or 3 desirable; willingness to work towards one.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils' learning across the primary age range in the classroom and in small groups or 1:1 interventions.
  • Deliver engaging learning activities in collaboration with class teachers.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where appropriate.
  • Prepare classroom resources and learning activities; build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

The Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils' learning across the primary age range, both in the classroom and through small group or one-to-one interventions.
  • Work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils' confidence, independence and wellbeing.
  • Assist with the preparation of classroom resources and learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
We Are Looking For
  • Has experience working with primary-aged children (school or similar setting).
  • Is enthusiastic, patient and committed to supporting children's learning.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative.
  • Has a good standard of English and mathematics (GCSE Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent).
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or is willing to work towards one (desirable).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
