Job summary

AMA Admin is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Level 2 or Level 3) to join a friendly primary school in Sheffield. This role is Full-time / Part-time (Term Time Only) and supports pupils across the primary age range to achieve their potential in a nurturing environment.

You will work with teachers to deliver targeted interventions, assist with learning resources, and monitor pupil progress. Essential qualifications: Level 2 or 3 TA, GCSE English and Maths, strong communication, teamwork,

Qualifications

  • Recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the classroom.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to deliver targeted interventions.
  • Help create an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.
  • Support pupils with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil independence.
  • Supervise pupils during breaktimes, educational visits, and other school activities as required.
  • Contribute to the assessment and recording of pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Requirements
  • A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience of working with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while using initiative when appropriate.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes and early reading strategies.
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Experience delivering intervention programmes in literacy or numeracy.
