Are you passionate about supporting young minds and making a real difference in the classroom? We’re looking for a dedicated, energetic, and caring Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team!

What you’ll be doing:
  • Identify strategies to help overcome individual pupils’ barriers to learning
  • Be prepared to use humour and restorative practice to ensure a child‑centred approach
  • Support the transition of new pupils arriving or existing pupils returning to school, putting the necessary support in place to overcome any barriers to learning
  • Provide in class support as necessary to meet the needs of the school.
  • Liaise with other staff to monitor pupils’ behaviour and well being
  • Build positive relations with parents/carers to encourage family involvement in their child’s progress
  • Communicate with parents/carers about specific support in place for their child.

Who are we?

Leaways School is an independent specialist day school in Clapton, for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 17. The school provides a safe learning environment for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs including autism and an EHC Plan. We also have a dedicated primary unit taking children from 7 years old. We aim to offer as close to a mainstream experience as possible but provide the additional care and support needed around each young person to enable them to thrive.

Leaways School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7‑19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
