A Scottish local authority is seeking a Teacher of French to join Portlethen Academy. The successful candidate will teach French and Spanish, promote high-quality learning, and support student well-being. This role requires GTCS registration and is fixed-term until January 2026. Candidates must demonstrate excellent teaching skills and commitment to safeguarding children.
Portlethen Academy would welcome applications from a Teacher of French who has a passion for delivering high quality learning and teaching and is enthusiastic about supporting the well-being of our young people.
We offer National Qualifications in French and Spanish at National 4 to Advanced Higher levels. We also offer a range of progression pathways for our young people through Languages for Life and Work Courses at SCQF Level 4 and Level 5.
The Modern Languages Faculty is committed to collegiate working, peer support, providing leadership opportunities and employing a range of teaching approaches to ensure the best outcomes for our young people.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
The preferred working days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Fixed Term for a period not exceeding 05 January 2026.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.
