Overview

KBR in support of the Volpe Center seeks a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who demonstrates experience and understanding in U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD) planning and appropriations processes. This position supports MARAD advanced planning and strategic direction.

Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance and maritime expertise to Volpe in support of the development of the Maritime Action Plan (MAP). Activities will include the review of source materials, drafting sections of the MAP, reviewing draft sections for technical accuracy, and responding to/resolving sponsor comments.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Experience in maritime operations
  • Experience in maritime education & training
  • Experience working with MARAD appropriation process and appropriations process
  • Knowledge of current state of American ship building and repair
  • Ability to work with users and customers, gain understanding of the FAA customer mission, strategic goals
Good to Have Qualifications
  • Extended background and history of publications on maritime issues and policies
  • Master Degree in Security and Resilience Studies or related fields
