Sustainability Data Analyst

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting for a Sustainability Data Analyst to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to join a global account team.

The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients with data-driven insights to improve environmental performance across their portfolios.

The Sustainability Compliance & Reporting team is part of our Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division and supports high-profile clients, across various sectors in Enterprise Accounts, with design and implementation of sustainability strategies, sustainability reporting and compliance, varying between single subject consulting projects to large change management engagements.

The role involves managing and interpreting large datasets from various sustainability platforms, analysing utility bills, inputting data into those platforms and providing reports with actionable recommendations to improve energy efficiency.

The Data Analyst will collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic sustainability planning. The focus will be on:

  • Managing utility and environmental data
  • Facilitating input of data onto client reporting data management systems
  • Communicating the importance of good environmental data
  • Analysing and reporting data

This role will report to the Senior Sustainability Consultant who leads carbon management initiatives and will be supported by the Operational Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, clean, and analyse large datasets from sustainability platforms
  • Review quality of data provided and engage with data owners to close any gaps and anomalies
  • Identify key areas of risk when evaluating data for quality and completeness
  • Collaborate with property managers, engineers, and sustainability consultants to ensure data accuracy
  • Facilitate input of data onto client reporting data management systems
  • Develop dashboards and reports to track sustainability KPIs including energy usage, carbon footprint, water consumption, and waste diversion
  • Identify trends and anomalies in building performance data
  • Provide environmental and carbon emission reports at requested intervals
  • Collate evidence and document data management processes annually to support reporting and assurance processes
  • Liaise with providers of data management systems with regards to any issues, updates, user changes
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on sustainability data tools and processes as required
  • Provide day-to-day support for the data management system to data owners
Person Specification / Requirements
Profile / Experience (Essential)
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in delivery of sustainability data‑driven projects
  • Prior involvement in utilising and managing data management systems or platforms
  • Proven experience in undertaking complex, data driven calculations with a high degree of accuracy
Profile / Experience (Desirable for the Role)
  • Good understanding of the GHG Protocol
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting principles and Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions calculations
  • Understanding of sustainability related corporate reporting frameworks and standards
  • Understanding of utility bill formats and bill management systems
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Experience with sustainability platforms (e.g. Envizi, Deepki, Gridium)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability strategies in commercial buildings
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level (minimum 2:1) ideally in sustainability/data related subject
