About the Ward

Tamworth Hospital’s Surgical 1 Ward is a 31-bed unit, providing patient-centred care for a wide variety of patients with complex care needs. On any given day, our Surgical Registered Nurses are responsible for providing high level day to day nursing care to our patients. Our patients often have numerous attachments that may require local accreditation, which we are happy to support your learnings. Due to the complexity of our patients, no two days are the same and there is always something new to learn.

You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the clinical leaders, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Wound and Stoma Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) within the ward. There are many career pathways and opportunities to develop in your role including various scholarships and facility professional development. The unit works on a 7-day rotating roster. Surgical 1 is a culturally diverse team that is open and friendly, and is looking forward to welcoming you into the fold.

As our new Surgical RN you will
  • Be a dedicated and passionate clinician who is focused on the provision of compassionate care to our patients

  • Have strong communication and negotiation skills, with a sound understanding of the relevant policies and procedures linked to best practice
