Tamworth Hospital’s Surgical 1 Ward is a 31-bed unit, providing patient-centred care for a wide variety of patients with complex care needs. On any given day, our Surgical Registered Nurses are responsible for providing high level day to day nursing care to our patients. Our patients often have numerous attachments that may require local accreditation, which we are happy to support your learnings. Due to the complexity of our patients, no two days are the same and there is always something new to learn.
You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the clinical leaders, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Wound and Stoma Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) within the ward. There are many career pathways and opportunities to develop in your role including various scholarships and facility professional development. The unit works on a 7-day rotating roster. Tamworth Hospital is the principal referral hospital for the northern sector of Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), servicing a population of over 180,000 people. As a major rural referral facility, Tamworth Hospital provides a wide range of specialist services, including emergency, medical, surgical, maternity, critical care, mental health, rehabilitation, and outpatient services.
