Job summary

CYGNET's Oakhurst Lodge in Lyndhurst requires dedicated Support Workers for adults with autism and learning disabilities. You’ll provide person-centred care, support independence, and engage residents in daily activities and community outings to improve wellbeing.

We offer full-time 12-hour day shifts on a 7-day rota, with training, benefits, and opportunities for career progression within the CYGNET group.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting adults with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities or working within a care setting.
  • Understanding of behaviours that may challenge, and a positive, proactive approach to support.
  • A caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine desire to help others succeed.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
  • Team-focused approach with the ability to work collaboratively in a supportive environment.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for supporting a variety of community activities, social events and meaningful experiences.
  • Commitment to promoting independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing for the people we support.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily routines and encourage independence for residents.
  • Accompany individuals on activities and outings in the local community.
  • Contribute to person-centred care plans and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Record observations and communicate effectively with the care team.
  • Promote a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for people with learning disabilities.
