Job summary

Riverside is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist customers in Riverside Hostel, Brixton, with budgeting, benefits, and moving toward sustainable housing. The role involves connecting clients with employability coaches and support agencies, maintaining case records, and providing resilient, empathetic support across a 6-week rolling rota.

Successful candidates will have experience working with vulnerable groups, a commitment to safeguarding, and the ability to work flexible hours,

Qualifications

• Experience of working with vulnerable people.
• Experience delivering structured support and risk management.
• Be a team player with a caring, empathetic, resilient attitude.
• Understanding of supporting vulnerable people, including lived experience of homelessness or addiction.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including lone working.

Responsibilities

• You will connect customers with employability coaches and other support agencies.
• Help customers manage money, sign up for benefits or move to permanent housing.
• Keep records and perform necessary admin tasks.
• Be resilient, empathetic and able to leave work at work.
• Support customers to move towards self-management and tenancy readiness.
• Signpost to external support services and community resources.
• Assist with day-to-day tenancy and healthcare needs as required.
• Promote opportunities for employment, education and training.
• Lead on group work and other supportive initiatives.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate significant risks.
• Record clear, factual customer information in the appropriate system.
• Carry out regular reviews of support and risk plans with customers.
• Carry out day-to-day administration and operational duties.
• Travel between properties when required.
