A community support organization near Stonehouse is looking for a dedicated individual to support an autistic adult with learning difficulties. You'll assist with daily routines and engage them in various activities while working collaboratively with a friendly team. Required qualifications include a valid driving license and the ability to take on flexible shift work. This role comes with comprehensive training, a competitive salary, and significant benefits, making it a rewarding opportunity in a supportive environment.
The successful candidate's working week will be split 60 / 40 between working with Brian and, depending on their interests, gifts and talents, some other individuals we support. Brian is a 39 year-old man who lives in his own house in his own home with 24 / 7 support from ourselves. He enjoys looking after his rabbits, riding his bike, yoga, drawing, playstation, watching films and cartoons, eating out, shopping, looking after his car and his garden and spending time with family and friends. Brian currently has 2 : 1 support and requires varying levels of support with some or all of the following : personal care routines, engagement in daily living tasks which he is usually motivated to partake in (laundry, cleaning, gardening, cooking etc.) and support around anxiety and self-regulating his behaviour.
If we can accommodate it around existing team members' work patterns, we will consider applications from people who require a set pattern of work to fit in with other life commitments. Shift patterns are varied, but as we support people 24 / 7, some flexibility is required across the week, including evenings and weekends.
Learning Together advocates a relational approach to care and support. Rather than focusing on the behaviour of those we support, we reflect on our own behaviour and our role in the relationship through the use of Applied Video Analysis. The successful candidates will receive full training in our approach and work closely with Brian's Community Lead and the Operations Manager.
Join us and become part of a unique, creative and friendly team, supporting / enabling autistic adults with learning difficulties to stay connected with family and community. This is a great opportunity to take on a rewarding role within a small and innovative organisation based just off Junction 13 of the M5, near Stonehouse GL10.
