Job description
About the role

The Electoral Commission is the UK's independent body overseeing elections and regulating political finance. Everything we do is about ensuring trust, participation, and integrity in the democratic process. As we enter a new chapter under our five-year Corporate Plan, we are increasing our workforce and transforming how we plan and deliver core services. This post is central to supporting Corporate Services in delivering that ambition. We are looking for a proactive and skilled professional to support our Projects, Planning and Performance team. There are two parts to the role. The postholder will support the team responsible for reporting on performance, benefits and key performance indicators. The other part of the role is to provide support to the Project Management Office across two major portfolios of change. There are a wide range of tasks including support with analysis, projects and secretariat as well as a more general administrative role.

Our Recruitment Commitment

We are committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. To help reduce unconscious bias and ensure all applicants are assessed solely on their skills, knowledge and experience, we use an anonymous recruitment process.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience in a performance and/or project environment, with a qualification in this area being advantageous but not essential. With experience working in fast paced environments, the successful candidate will be proactive, have a desire to add value, be quick to learn and take responsibility when they are given the opportunity. They will be comfortable undertaking a range of tasks across performance monitoring and projects including some administrative support. Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and IT skills are essential for this role, in particular Microsoft Excel and working on spreadsheets, tables and charts. Additionally, experience in Microsoft Visio for process mapping and experience using visualisations would be advantageous. Some knowledge of Power BI would be a bonus.

Opportunity to Develop

This is a genuine opportunity to develop, particularly in the fields of planning and project/performance/benefit management as you will be exposed to a wide range of operational and strategic activities. We offer a strong total reward package, including:

  • Flexible working and hybrid model (40% office minimum)
  • 28 rising to 30 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Civil Service pension scheme (28.97% employer contribution)
  • Study support for professional qualifications
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Ride2Work, eye care vouchers and more
