Job summary

Sanctuary Group is seeking a Support Assistant in Middlesbrough to provide hands-on, high-quality support for people with learning disabilities at 4 Roxby Avenue. The role focuses on building independence, daily living skills, and social inclusion, with a compassionate, team-based approach and accessible IT tools.

The position offers 18 hours per week at £13.15 per hour, with a commitment to staff development, flexible working, and a supportive environment within Sanctuary Supported Living.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficient technology/IT skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a hands-on, high-quality support service.
  • Support customers with learning disabilities to build independence and reach their potential.
  • Encourage daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and community involvement.
  • Promote social inclusion and help customers develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
  • Work with agencies on behalf of customers, encouraging choice and advocacy when needed.

Your role

  • Excellent communication skills to build positive relationships with customers, families and agencies
  • Experience working effectively as part of a team

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it
  • Proficient technology/IT skills (Microsoft Office and similar)
