A local government council in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking 2 Support & Progression Workers to join their Refugee Move On Team. The role involves providing support to refugees transitioning to independent living, helping with housing, income, education, and managing tenancies. Ideal candidates will have experience with vulnerable adults, be able to work collaboratively, and possess knowledge of community resources. A proactive and resilient approach is essential. This position is full-time and includes a salary between £32,597 and £35,412 per annum.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Support & Progression Team, working within the Refugee Move On Team. Our services are psychologically and trauma-informed, recognising the complex needs of the people we support.
The Refugee Move On Team provides tailored support to refugees as they transition from initial accommodation into independent living. This includes helping individuals access housing, income, employment, education, and community resources, while ensuring they feel safe and empowered to build a new life. You will be the first point of contact with households displaced by war, disaster or famine in matters relating to housing and safeguarding, ensuring households are not at risk of homelessness. In addition you will offer advice and support with all aspects of establishing, managing and maintaining a tenancy.
We are looking to appoint 2 x Support & Progression Workers to join our team. You will act as a mentor and advocate for refugees, providing practical and emotional support to help them overcome barriers and achieve independence. These roles involve proactive engagement, developing skills and confidence, and supporting individuals to navigate systems and services effectively.
You will be passionate about supporting refugees and committed to promoting independence and integration. Ideally, you will have experience of providing person-centred support, assessing needs, and developing tailored plans.
