Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Support & Progression Team, working within the Refugee Move On Team. Our services are psychologically and trauma-informed, recognising the complex needs of the people we support.

Team

The Refugee Move On Team provides tailored support to refugees as they transition from initial accommodation into independent living. This includes helping individuals access housing, income, employment, education, and community resources, while ensuring they feel safe and empowered to build a new life. You will be the first point of contact with households displaced by war, disaster or famine in matters relating to housing and safeguarding, ensuring households are not at risk of homelessness. In addition you will offer advice and support with all aspects of establishing, managing and maintaining a tenancy.

Position Summary

We are looking to appoint 2 x Support & Progression Workers to join our team. You will act as a mentor and advocate for refugees, providing practical and emotional support to help them overcome barriers and achieve independence. These roles involve proactive engagement, developing skills and confidence, and supporting individuals to navigate systems and services effectively.

The Person

You will be passionate about supporting refugees and committed to promoting independence and integration. Ideally, you will have experience of providing person-centred support, assessing needs, and developing tailored plans.

We are looking for individuals who:
  • Have experience of working with vulnerable adults or refugees in a strengths-based, psychologically informed way.
  • Can build positive relationships and work collaboratively with individuals, families, and professionals.
  • Are proactive, resilient, and able to work flexibly across the city, including carrying out home visits.
  • Knowledge of housing, welfare benefits, and community resources is desirable.
