Job description

East Kent Colleges Group are working in collaboration with BRIT Kids and have an exciting opportunity for a Graphic Design (specialising in Adobe and Mac) Assistant based at our Canterbury College. This role is offered on a supply, ad hoc basis, with work available on Saturdays for up to 4 hours.

Overview

BRIT Kids is part of The BRIT School, a unique free school for Performing and Creative arts. This role supports Saturday sessions at Canterbury College, working independently to follow instructions and contribute to the smooth running of the graphics and illustration classes. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and provide technical assistance with software and hardware, while delivering excellent customer service in a positive, professional learning environment. You will also contribute to safeguarding practices and the ethos of BRIT Kids.

Responsibilities
  • Aid in the smooth and safe running of BRIT Kids every Saturday.
  • Assist teachers in lessons when requested by the manager.
  • Provide one-to-one support for students with Additional Educational Needs (AEN) within their classes.
  • Ensure guidance for BRIT Kids students to and from lessons, managing pick-up and drop-off for late or early students.
  • Remain vigilant to ensure the safety of entrances and exits and be aware of all building areas to prevent lost children or unauthorized individuals on site.
  • Uphold the pick-up and drop-off procedure for 8-10 year olds.
  • Greet and welcome parents and students at the gates; maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Provide comprehensive tours for new students and parents.
  • Undertake other tasks or duties as reasonably requested by the manager and/or director.
  • Commit to the ethos of BRIT Kids, adhering to safeguarding and all relevant policies.
  • Advocate for and promote the BRIT Kids code of practice concerning discipline, commitment, and professional conduct.
  • Attend occasional staff meetings and INSET (In-Service Training) days.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Ability to support students with digital design projects and provide technical assistance with software and hardware.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to create a positive and professional learning atmosphere.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Willingness to work on Saturdays for up to 4 hours, as required.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately.
  • Awareness of and compliance with safeguarding practices and the organisation’s policies and procedures.
