Tilbury Douglas is offering a Summer Placement for a Quantity Surveyor based at Swansea, Wales. You will join the regional building team, supporting cost control, procurement and commercial decisions on live projects.

You'll learn from experienced professionals, develop practical commercial skills and gain exposure to contracts, valuations and project reporting in a live project environment.

Competenze

• Currently studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a closely related discipline.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply theory to practice.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with good attention to detail.

Mansioni

• Assist with day-to-day commercial management of construction projects.
• Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets and financial information.
• Understand procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with reviewing quotations and comparing costs for procurement decisions.
• Support preparation and assessment of subcontractor valuations and payments.
• Help monitor project costs and track expenditure against budgets.
• Gain exposure to management of variations and their impact on costs.
• Maintain accurate commercial records, reports and project documentation.
• Develop understanding of construction contracts and how they influence delivery.
• Attend project and commercial meetings to learn about progress, costs, risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with commercial, operational, design and engineering teams.
• Develop understanding of commercial risk and how QS protects project financial performance.
• Gain experience with digital systems and tools supporting commercial management.
• Build relationships with project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
