Tilbury Douglas is offering a Summer Placement as a Quantity Surveyor to gain hands-on experience on live construction projects in Scotland, near Livingston. You’ll work with commercial and project teams to manage costs and commercial decisions, across procurement, valuations and reporting.

You'll learn from experienced professionals, participate in meetings, and develop practical commercial skills while supporting project delivery and value creation in a live project environment.

Competenze

• Currently studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• Full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one by Feb 2027.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, logical approach.
• Good written and verbal communication across diverse stakeholders.

Mansioni

• Assist with day-to-day commercial management of construction projects.
• Support preparation of cost estimates, budgets and financial information.
• Understand procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with reviewing quotations and comparing costs for procurement decisions.
• Support preparation and assessment of subcontractor valuations and payments.
• Help monitor project costs and track expenditure against budgets.
• Contribute to management of variations and changes affecting project costs.
• Maintain accurate commercial records, reports and project documentation.
• Learn construction contracts and how contractual requirements influence delivery.
• Attend project and commercial meetings to understand progress, costs, risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with commercial, operational, design and engineering teams.
• Develop understanding of commercial risk and how QS protects financial performance.
• Gain experience using digital systems and tools for commercial management.
